My father spends almost 300 days a year exploring the US. I'm quite envious really. These pictures are from day trip my brother, sister and I took with my Dad into the Cerbat Mountains on the Chloride Mines Trail.

Tow, park and enjoy. As my dad says "forget all the toys and stuff. Keep it simple, keep it easy." Sound advice from a guy who has been traveling the back roads all his life.
Arguable the most reliable and fuel efficient truck in North America, this is a 2x4 manual Ford Ranger. I do not think my Dad ever got it stuck.
My sister enjoying the view.
View of the Cerbat Mountain range through the window.
Here I am getting a lesson on edible desert plants. My Dad is a wealth of information on this.

My Dad's current overland rig is setup with ease and simplicity in mind. At the young age of 81 he does not feel like setting up a roof top tent on top of a lifted 4x4 truck. Not that he could not do it mind you.
Keep on the trails and keep out of the mines. These old mines are still intact from 1800's and the dry rot makes it insanely unstable.
Turns out you're never too old to get a lecture about proper engine braking on steep loose gravel downgrades. Never mind my 20 years of 4x4'ing.
Beautiful scenery, and the solitude is remarkable.
You can see the town of Chloride in the background where the landscape flattens out.
I don't think we have all been on a trip together since the early 80's.
81 and still going strong! Love you Dad!
